(RxWiki News) There's a new over-the-counter (OTC) treatment option for those who have allergies.
The US Food and Drug Administration recently approved Flonase Sensimist (fluticasone furoate) nasal spray for the treatment of allergies.
This medication was previously available as a prescription only and was found under GSK's Veramyst label. Flonase Sensimist is one of latest medications to make the switch from prescription to OTC.
Flonase Sensimist is available as a nasal spray and is to be administered into the nose once a day.
Flonase Sensimist can be used in adults and children ages 2 and older to treat symptoms associated with both seasonal and year-round allergies, such as sneezing, itchy nose, runny nose and congestion. For the treatment of itchy, watery eyes, Flonase Sensimist is approved for those 12 years old and older.
This nasal spray is scent- and alcohol-free and has little or no drip.
Flonase Sensimist is expected to make its way to OTC shelves early in 2017.
