FDA Warns About Hair Products

WEN by Chaz Dean cleansing conditioners may cause hair loss, itching and rash, FDA warns

(RxWiki News) The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning about certain hair cleansing products.

This warning is for WEN by Chaz Dean cleansing conditioner products in particular. The FDA had received 127 adverse event reports from consumers who used these products and experienced hair loss/balding or hair breakage, rash and itching.

These 127 adverse event reports represent the most the FDA has ever received in reference to a cosmetic hair cleansing product, the FDA noted.

Furthermore, the FDA is investigating more than 21,000 complaints that were directly reported to the company and Guthy Renker, LLC.

The FDA has not been able to determine the actual cause behind these reported adverse events. The agency has reached out to the company for specific data and will provide more information as it becomes available.

If you use cleansing conditioner products under the WEN brand, know there is a potential risk for hair loss/balding or hair breakage, rash and itching.

If you experience a side effect after using WEN by Chaz Dean products, stop using the product and contact your health care professional or dermatologist. In addition, you may report these side effects to the FDA's MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program.
