Keep the Focus Positive

All children need love and affection, but this is especially true for children with ADHD. Focusing on the negative aspects of your child’s behavior may harm your relationship — and your child’s self esteem. It’s important to accept the parts of your child’s behavior that are difficult, and reinforce good behavior with praise. Kids with ADHD often receive a lot of criticism, so it’s important to reward your child for even the smallest of achievements. Praise can help motivate your child to keep control of his or her focus, attention and impulses.
