Alternative Ways to Reduce Stress

Unhealthy Coping

To reduce stress, it’s important to make sure you don’t have any of the following unhealthy habits. While these strategies may work temporarily, they may also cause unforeseen damage to your health. HelpGuide.org recommends not smoking, drinking, eating, or sleeping to excess. A strong network of supportive friends and family members can also be an enormous buffer against life’s stressors, so don’t withdraw from those you love. Try not to procrastinate, zone out or fill up every second of the day. Lastly, try not to take your stress out on other people. This may only make matters worse.
