Ethionamide is a prescription medication used to treat tuberculosis. Ethionamide belongs to a group of drugs called antitubercular medications. These work by killing or stopping the growth of certain bacteria that cause tuberculosis.

This medication comes in a tablet (by mouth) form and is usually taken 1 to 4 times a day with food.

Common side effects of ethionamide include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain.
