Rich Products Corporation has issued a voluntarily recall of their deveined barbecue shrimp due to an undeclared milk ingredient used to coat the shrimp.
Rich Products Corporation voluntarily recalled Sonny’s Barbecue Deep Deveined Shrimp (product code 80692) on January 13, 2011, because the product was found to have undeclared milk ingredient (whey) in the coating of the shrimp (less than .1%). People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
Rich Products Corporation has not received any reports of illness connected with this product and has issued this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.
Sonny’s Barbecue Deep Deveined Shrimp is not packaged for retail distribution and is sold to foodservice distributors in the Southeastern United States for exclusive use by Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q restaurants. Rich’s has already notified all of its distributors and customers who have received the products in question and has directed them to remove and destroy the affected products.
The product is packed in 20 pound cases which contain 10 two pound bags. The inner bags are plain poly.
