Invanz is a prescription medication used to treat serious bacterial infections of the abdomen, skin, urinary tract, kidney, pelvis, and pneumonia. Invanz treats diabetic foot infections and certain gynecological infections. It is also used to prevent infection following colorectal surgery. Invanz belongs to a group of drugs called carbapenems. These work to kill bacteria by interfering with their ability to form a cell wall. 

This medication comes as a powder to be mixed with liquid and injected directly into a vein (IV) or muscle (IM) by a healthcare professional. It is usually given 1 to 2 times a day for up to 14 days if given in the vein (IV), or up to 7 days if given in the muscle (IM).

Common side effects of Invanz include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, and infusion site pain.

Invanz can also cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how Invanz affects you.
