Motegrity is a prescription medication used to treat adults with chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC).

Motegrity belongs to a group of drugs called selective serotonin type 4 receptor agonists. It helps to relieve constipation by targeting a specific receptor in the colon colon called the 5-HT4 receptor. Receptors are molecules that help cells communicate and bring about responses, in this case --colon muscle movements.

Motegrity comes in tablet form and is taken once daily, with or without food.

Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, abdominal distension (expansion), dizziness, vomiting, flatulence (gas), and fatigue.
