Mylanta Overview

Updated:

Mylanta is an over the counter medication used to treat heartburn and symptoms of too much stomach acid adults and children 12 years of age and older.

It is a single product containing 3 ingredients: Aluminum hydroxide, Magnesium hydroxide, and Simethicone.

Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide belong to a group of drugs called antacids. Simethicone belongs to a group of drugs called antiflatulents. Together these work by neutralizing stomach acid and allows for easier passage of gas.

This medication comes in a suspension and is taken between meals and at bedtime.

Common side effects of Mylanta include nausea, constipation and diarrhea.
