Hemp oil is obtained by cold-pressing the seeds of a plant of the Cannabis sativa L. species. 

Orally, hemp oil is used most often for heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, and inflammatory disorders. Oral forms of hemp oil are thought to work by providing the body with a unique source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These fatty acids are essential for human growth and development and may be important in the prevention and treatment of some chronic diseases.

Topically, hemp oil is used in some cosmetic and body care products for its moisture-retention qualities. Topical hemp oil is thought to work by providing the skin with essential fatty acids which may soothe and restore the skin.

There are no reports of significant side effects with hemp oil use.
