(RxWiki News) Longtime host of game show Jeopardy! Alex Trebek is recovering in a California hospital following a heart attack, a spokeswoman announced Sunday.
Sony Television spokeswoman Paula Askanas said that the 71-year-old host was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Saturday after suffering a mild heart attack.
He is expected to make a full recovery, and to resume taping Jeopardy!'s new season next month. Trebek previously suffered a heart attack in December 2007.
On Saturday, the same day he suffered the heart attack, Jeopardy! won a Daytime Emmy award for best game show.
Trebek is best known for hosting the program for the last 28 years. He previously hosted game shows including Pit Fall, Classic Concentration and High Rollers.
He also has made a number of television appearances, often playing himself, on series including Family Guy, How I Met Your Mother, Golden Girls and Cheers.
Trebek, a native Canadian, who became a naturalized US citizen in 1998, is married to Jean Currivan. Trebek has two children.
