Betsy Carlisle, PharmD, CDE

Dr. Carlisle is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Seton Medical Center Hays. In this role, Dr. Carlisle is responsible for managing an inpatient diabetes consult service.

Dr. Carlisle has been a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals for the past 12 years. She was previously the Network Diabetes Specialist for the Department of Pharmacy and, in this role, was instrumental in developing several protocols and order sets for inpatient diabetes management.

Dr. Carlisle has spent the majority of her career in the academic and patient practice environment. She served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and as a Clinical Associate Professor for the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Carlisle has co-authored two editions of a book for the American Diabetes Association, entitled “101 Tips for Managing Your Medications for Diabetes.” She has also co-authored the Diabetes Mellitus chapter in the three editions of "Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs." She has delivered numerous invited presentations and scientific exhibits at local, state and national pharmacy and medical meetings. Dr. Carlisle recently served as a guest blogger authoring several columns for DiabetesSelfManagement.com.
