Owen is an Adjunct Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Science at Austin Community College in Austin, Texas. He earned an Interdisciplinary Ph.D from the University of Texas with a program of work in Medical Cognitive Science, prior to which he earned a clinically-orientated graduate degree in Psychology from Dunquesne University.
His Ph.D work included courses in Biomedical Engineering, Epidemiology, Informatics, Neurodynamics, Neuropsychology, Psychopharmacology, and Physics. His dissertation modeled body cognition and palpitations: the relationship between what heart rhythms a patient feels and the underlying neurophysiological processes.
