9 Easy Stretches to Relieve Back Pain

Knee-to-Chest Stretch

This simple stretch can relieve tension in your lower back and buttocks.

Start: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet on the floor, like you’re about to do sit-ups.

  1. Pull one knee up toward your chest with both of your hands, and hold it there for 15 to 20 seconds.
  2. Return to the starting position.
  3. Repeat with the opposite leg.
  4. Return to start.
  5. Repeat, holding both legs at your chest this time.
  6. Do each stretch two to three times.
