All About Breast Cancer
Radiation therapy uses high-powered beams of energy to kill cancer cells, while chemotherapy uses drugs to destroy cancer cells. If your cancer has a high risk of returning or spreading, your doctor may recommend chemo to decrease these odds. Sometimes chemo is given before surgery for breast cancer patients with larger tumors. It’s also used in patients whose cancer has already spread. Hormone therapy is used to treat cancers that are sensitive, and can be used either after surgery or in conjunction with other treatments to decrease the odds of cancer returning or control the cancer if it’s already spread. Targeted drug treatments attack specific abnormalities like protein growths within cancer cells. To learn more about these treatments, visit the RxWiki Breast Cancer Condition page.
