The Benefits of Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding may not only benefit your baby’s health, your wallet may also thank you for it. According to the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), breastfeeding saves parents approximately $800 a year by forgoing infant formula. While breastfeeding is free, formula typically ranges between $54 and $198 per month depending on the brand, according to the APA. Breastfed babies are also less likely to develop diseases growing up,, including juvenile diabetes, multiple sclerosis, heart disease and cancer, according to the APA. This may prevent future possible medical expenses.
