Bob Marley: Melanoma

Legendary musician Bob Marley passed away after battling melanoma in May of 1981. Marley had a sore on his toe that he thought was a sports injury. However, it was later diagnosed as metastatic melanoma. Metastatic melanoma, also known as Stage IV melanoma, occurs when melanoma cells of any kind have spread through the lymph nodes to the organs or other parts of the body. This often occurs when melanoma is not caught in its early stages and symptoms often only become present once the cancer has spread.
