Celiac Disease 101

Childhood Symptoms

Children who develop celiac disease may have their own set of symptoms, in addition to those that occur in the digestive system. This is because, during childhood, the malabsorption of nutrients caused by the disease may cause other problems. A child with celiac disease may be irritable, have delayed growth, may be short in stature, have dental enamel defects or delayed puberty.
