If you have OAB, you may find that certain foods irritate or trigger your symptoms. Tomato-based foods, chocolate, spicy foods, fruits and fruit juices are common culprits of OAB irritation. Artificial sweeteners, fizzy drinks, caffeine and alcohol can also affect the bladder. The Cystitis & Overactive Bladder Foundation (COB Foundation) recommends increasing fiber intake, as constipation can put pressure on the bladder.
