The Dangers of Dehydration
One of the main causes of constipation is dehydration, according to the Cleveland Clinic. When the body is low on water, the colon suffers. The body needs to be hydrated for the colon to function properly. Drinking plenty of water can help keep the colon in check and prevent constipation. Staying properly hydrated can also help the body purge other waste, according to US News. The body removes waste through sweat, urine, and stool. The kidneys and liver may also not work as effectively when the body is low on fluids.
