Actor James Coburn, famous for his role in The Great Escape among other movies, was forced into an early retirement due to his severe symptoms from rheumatoid arthritis. After traditional treatment provided little benefit, he sought alternative treatment that allowed him to return to acting. He went on to win an academy award in 1997.
