Flu Vaccine Q&A

Does the FluMist vaccine cause the flu?

Although FluMist contains weakened live viruses, it cannot cause the flu. Some patients report mild flu-like symptoms after getting this type of vaccine. However, these side effects are typically mild and short-lived, especially when compared to symptoms of the actual flu virus. Patients with certain medical conditions should not receive FluMist. Your pharmacist or doctor can help you decide which flu vaccine is right for you. Read more of the full answer from Beth Bolt, RPh, here.
