Forgetting Forgetfulness: Methods That May Boost Your Memory
Follow your doctor's treatment recommendations for any chronic conditions, such as depression, thyroid or kidney problems. Also, review your medications with your doctor regularly because some medicine — like antidepressants, antihistamines, sleeping pills and painkillers — can affect memory. Chronic stress can damage brain cells and the parts of the brain involved in forming new memories and calling up old ones.
