Forgetting Forgetfulness: Methods That May Boost Your Memory
When you need to remember something, it’s always a good idea to say it out loud or write it down, which can reinforce the memory or connection. You should also review what you’ve learned the same day and at intervals afterward. If you've just learned someone’s name, for instance, use the person’s name each time you speak to him or her. This technique may also work for remembering where things are. You may be more likely to remember where you put your keys if you say out loud, “I put my keys in the drawer under the microwave,” than if you simply put them there without repeating it.
