Health Risks Seniors Should Be Aware Of

Cancer

Cancer is an umbrella term describing a variety of conditions that stem from the growth of an abnormal mass of cells known as a tumor. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in America, and aging is one of the most common and significant risk factors for cancer. Cancer survival is much more likely if the cancer is found early, so it is important to pay attention to any abnormalities on your body and to receive recommended cancer screenings. Breast, cervical, colorectal, skin and prostate screenings are the most common and recommended for adults over the age of 50. Maintaining a healthy weight, exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet can also help to reduce your risk of developing certain cancers.
