Healthy Habits for Older Adults

Physical Fitness

Exercising regularly can help those of all ages. Physical activity can strengthen bones and muscles, which may prevent injuries and falls. Even low-intensity exercise, such as a quick walk, may help older adults maintain brain health. According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), weight-bearing exercises are best for patients with osteoporosis because they force the patient to work against gravity. Talk to your doctor before you begin any exercise regime.
