Healthy Summer Vacation Tips
It’s very important to drink plenty of water during the day. Heat-related illnesses are not only caused by high temperatures and a loss of fluids, but also by a lack of salt in the body. Some sports drinks can help replenish the salt in your body lost through sweating. Drink fewer beverages that contain caffeine (such as tea, coffee and soda) or alcohol. If you do choose to indulge in these drinks, stay hydrated with water too. Drink water every 15 to 20 minutes, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid peak sunlight hours and take breaks in cool spots, if you’re feeling overheated. You may be dehydrated if your skin tents (when you pinch your skin, it forms a ridge) or your urine is dark.
