The morning alarm sounds, and your sleepy-eyed teen hits the snooze button and drifts back off to sleep. By the time the alarm sounds again, he or she is only minutes away from catching the bus and there’s no time for breakfast. For many teens, this morning routine is a familiar, but troubling one. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it provides the mind and body with energy throughout the day. So how do you get your teen to chow down in the AM? Make breakfast a priority in your home. While a sit down breakfast is ideal, it's not always feasible. When on-the-go, busy teens should be encouraged to reach for granola bars, fruit or healthy cereal.
