While intimate contact could potentially lead to the spread of cold and flu viruses, one study found that moderate sexual activity may actually help to boost the immune system. Participants who reported having sex 1-2 times a week were found to have significantly higher levels of the antibody immunoglobulin A than those who had more frequent sex and those who abstained.
