Keeping Kids Healthy During the School Year

Keep Hands Off of the Face

The Mayo Clinic recommends supplying children with hand sanitizers for times when they are not able to wash their hands, such as before snacks or after touching community objects like pencil sharpeners. Also, tell children to keep their hands away from their faces, especially the eyes and mouth. Discourage them from chewing or sucking on non-food items like pencils, and stress the fact that anything they put in their mouths should not be shared, including water bottles or juice boxes.
