NBA Stars Who Give Back
Born in South Africa and raised in Canada, Steve Nash joined the NBA in 1996 after four successful years playing college basketball. He is one of six players in the history of the NBA to join the 50-40-90 club (over 50 percent field goal shooting, 40 percent 3-point shooting and 90 percent free throw shooting for a whole season). Much like his friend and former teammate Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash has used his time, money and influence to help support various philanthropic causes. In 2006, he was named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in the world for his efforts on and off the court.
