Properly Storing Medicine At Home
Keep Medicine in Its Original Container — Except for the Cotton Plug
Containers are designed to keep medications protected from damage and humidity. If you put them in a different container, you may also forget to take your medication, take it incorrectly or even take the wrong medication. Although it may be tempting to combine medications into one bottle, it’s best to keep them in their original container to guarantee potency and safety. When a new medication container is opened, you may find a cotton plug. This should always be removed after its initial opening! Keeping the cotton plug in the bottle can create moisture, which can reduce a medication’s effectiveness.
