Signs You're Sleep Deprived

Your Skin Isn’t Looking Great

Beauty sleep may not be a myth. Most people have experienced puffy eyes after a few nights of missed sleep. But it turns out that chronic sleep loss may lead to lackluster skin, fine lines and dark circles. The body repairs itself during sleep — the secretion of a growth hormone helps to build and repair body tissues, such as muscle and bone. The body also produces a growth hormone during sleep that has been linked to maintaining collagen (the fibers that form bone, cartilage, skin and tendons) — which may help the skin to look young. Sleep is also a natural moisturizer. The body perspires more during sleep, and this moisture may smooth out wrinkles.
