Stars with Diabetes

Randy Jackson, television star from the hit show American Idol, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2003 after feeling like he had a bad case of the flu. Jackson recalls that he wasn’t surprised by the diagnosis. However, he did feel depressed as he has a family history of the condition and had been warned for years to start managing his weight. “Had I listened before, maybe I could have prevented this from happening,” he stated in an interview. It is important to be knowledgeable and proactive with your health, as a poor diet, obesity, inactivity and family history are all major risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes.
