Summer Food Safety Tips
Make sure to clean all utensils and plates before you begin plating or preparing food. It’s also important to remember that all produce should be washed with running water before eating — whether you’re eating it raw or cooked, and even if you planning on peeling. If you’re camping or traveling and there will be no running water available, bring moist towelettes or fruit and vegetable spray with you. Make sure to keep uncooked meats, fruits and vegetables, and utensils separate from one another when preparing a meal. According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), doing this may reduce the risk for contamination. Be sure to wash your hands between handling different uncooked meats such as raw meat or poultry — because contamination can also happen at this time.
