Summer Skin Tips
When it’s hot outside, your skin is sure to feel the heat and this could mean dry, itchy skin. Luckily, there are a few simple ways to manage dry summer skin. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends showering only in warm, not hot water and keep bath time to a minimum. Applying a moisturizer and lip balm immediately after showering may also help to lock in moisture. Try an ointment or cream with shea butter, wear non-irritating clothes and use gentle unscented products. Not only should you moisturize your skin in the summer, you should keep it hydrated it too! If you don’t drink plenty of water, you may get dry patches, according to the AAD. Remember to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, and even more if you are out in the heat.
