Summer Survival Guide for Healthy Families

Summer Cookouts and Campfires

Summer brings a seasonal increase in burn injuries, but there are many ways to protect yourself and your family. Keep children and pets away from hot grills or cooking areas, and monitor any recreational fire closely. Be sure you are cooking in a safe place — away from walls and wooden structures and in an open, well-ventilated space. Never leave a fire or grill unattended, and have a fire extinguisher on hand in case of an emergency.
