Surprisingly Unhealthy Habits
Spending too much time in the sun and not wearing sunscreen can cause skin cancer. However, humans need some exposure to sunlight. The body makes vitamin D when the skin is directly exposed to sunlight. Vitamin D is essential for healthy bone and muscle development. Sun exposure in moderation is the major source of vitamin D for most humans because very few foods naturally contain it. The amount of vitamin D you produce from exposing your skin to sunlight depends on the time of day, your location, the color of your skin and the amount of skin you expose. Midday is the best time to expose your skin to the sun to maximize your vitamin D production.
