Tips for Living with Type 2 Diabetes

Keep an Eye on Your Glucose Levels

Knowing your blood glucose levels will help you know how food, activity and exercise are affecting you. It’s important to test your blood glucose levels as often as your doctor recommends so that you know if your levels become too high or too low. Before a meal and two hours after a meal are both common times to check. A great way to keep track of your blood glucose levels and how often to check is by using a log book. To test your blood glucose levels at home, you’ll need a machine called a blood glucose meter, which you can find at most pharmacies. Ask your doctor which machine works best for you and will be covered by your insurance.
