The Truth About Hangover Cures
Go for bland foods, such as crackers or bread, which may raise blood sugar and are easy on the stomach, the Mayo Clinic recommends. Fruits like bananas and kiwis are good too, since they are loaded with fructose, a simple sugar that naturally occurs, and potassium, a mineral and important electrolyte often depleted with alcohol consumption. Eating eggs the morning after will provide your body with necessary energy. Eggs also contain large amounts of taurine and cysteine, the substance that breaks down acetaldehyde — the headache-causing chemical that’s leftover when the liver breaks down alcohol. Taurine may boost liver function and help prevent liver disease.
