Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. MS is caused by damage to the myelin sheath, the protective covering that surrounds nerve cells. Since women are more likely than men to be diagnosed with MS, here are some things every woman should know about multiple sclerosis.
