Wine Not? The Health Benefits of Red Wine

Wine May Reduce Breast Cancer Risk

Alcohol is considered to be a risk factor for breast cancer, because it is known to increase women’s estrogen levels. However, a study published in the Journal of Women’s Health found that premenopausal women who drank 8 ounces of red wine per day had lower levels of estrogen after a month. This may be due to the chemicals in the seeds and skins of red grapes (only found in red grapes, not white), according to the researchers. This study also found that red wine may halt the growth of cancer cells.
