The Worst Things You Can Do for Your Heart

Be a Couch Potato

As great as it is to spend the day binge-watching “House of Cards” on Netflix, too much time on the couch can have a negative impact on your heart that my not be reversible. In fact, one study found that those whose daily screen time was two hours or more were at two times the risk of a deadly cardiac event like a heart attack, compared to those who did not spend as much time in front of a screen. The risk did not appear to lower if participants engaged in moderate to vigorous exercise. Still, if you’re a Netflix marathoner, it couldn’t hurt to get up and exercise every once in a while — or maybe even train for a real marathon!
