Trospium is a prescription medication used to treat an overactive bladder with the symptoms of urinary urgency, frequency, or leakage. Trospium belongs to a group of drugs called anticholinergics. These work by relaxing the bladder muscles to prevent urgent, frequent, or uncontrolled urination.

This medication comes in tablet form and is taken 1 or 2 times a day with water on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before a meal.

This medication is also available in an extended release capsule form and is taken once a day with water on an empty stomach, at least one 1 before a meal.

Common side effects of trospium include dry mouth, constipation, and headache.
