(RxWiki News) Because of a packaging error, Qualitest Pharmaceuticals has voluntarily recalled multiple lots of eight brands of oral contraceptives. This is a nationwide recall.
The manufacturer has recalled lots of the following oral contraceptives:
- Cyclafem 7/7/7
- Cyclafem 1/35
- Emoquette
- Gildess FE 1.5/30
- Gildess FE 1/20
- Orsythia
- Previfem
- Tri-Previfem

The recall is the result of a packaging error. Select blisters were rotated 180 within the card, which reversed the weekly tablet orientation and made the lot number and expiration date no longer visible.
While this error poses no health risk, the daily regimen of the pills may be incorrect and result in an unintended pregnancy.
If you have one of these packages, begin taking a non-hormonal form of contraception immediately and talk with your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
Pharmacies are being instructed to contact consumers who have received affected product.
